Yesterday was by far the coldest day ive experienced in delhi. But i am used to it so am able to withstand it.

The authorities are cruel here.Expecting junta to attend classes at 9am is asking for too much.It is a major pain trying to concentrate on organizational change or decision support systems while ur @$$ is freezing.

I have started reading a book by george soros- 'capitalism in crisis',open society endangered.A very very interesting book on financial analysis from the perspective of sociology. It provides an amazing insight into the mind and personality of one of the most successful fund managers.

I guess muh summers will be in bombay. So a lil respite from the sweltering delhi summer.Hoping to get the details soon.

Flavor of the week

Its one of those times when the entire batches on campus look forward to - with hope,,anticipation and fear. Its PLACEMENTS season. The placements will kick off in the topb-schools in a month or so.All the two years of studies, cramming, learning boil down to this dday.

And this is one major reason why my blog isnt being updated regularly(well,i always have a reasion). Was busy with some of this work, the details of which i cannot post here at this point in time.

The delhi winter has done an about turn and is back with a fury. Its touched 4deg here. But i am inured to this so it hasnt been a major problem as it was initially. It is near impossible getting up in the morning to attend classes. And im being forced to make decisions where i have to choose between taking bath(i think it has been 4 days or is it 5???) and having lunch. So the learning has not ended!!!!!!!!

Coming down to acads, this week has been slightly painful with the teachers deciding to go into an overdrive by conducting lotsa painful quizzes, the outcome of which(as vivekananda has said)is discounted by us(obviously it will be considered for evaluation). The extended weekend is the ideal time to get back to the books. Its gonna be a tough two montha ahead.Wishing myself luck.

This was supposed to be posted 3 days back.Anways………..

Well. Its been almost a week since I came back to FMS after the winter break. And im glad I was able to run away from the peak delhi winter.Junta says that we have been lucky as the intensity of the delhi winter this year has been nowhere close to the usual. But as my roomie says “Id rather believe that my tolerance levels have gone up”!!!!!!Surprisingly after the first two days, it has gotten more cold.

This week was characterised by CitiBank conducting a Forex Operation simulation which received a huge response from the campus. There was a prize for the most ethical team which was won by team “Hawala”!!!!!!The junta received accolades with the CitiBanker mentioning that among the top bschools the game was played in the most ethical manner in FMS.That is something which one can definitely be proud of. The FMS entrance exam is scheduled this Sunday. The craze for MBA seems to be getting wilder and this can be seen from the 1.4odd(mayb more) lakh candidates who have appeared for cat. There are approx 1100 seats(mayb more).Well,it doesn’t get any better for the FMS exam.Approximately,45K(mayb more) candidates across the country are taking up the test for 90 seats.I wish all the best to the ppl taking up the test.

I have been reading “My Years With General Motors” by Alfred Sloan Jr.A Highly detailed book about management in General Motors. My perseverance is being put to the test here.Hoping to finish the book by the end of the semester.Meanwhile,I have read other books parallelly. Market Wizards has been one of them.A very interesting book.

But I guess its time to get cozy with the textbooks rather than these so I shall try not to read any more new books. But you never know.
